Slovenia's Mountain Magic: Lessons for Greece

I just returned from a short trip to beautiful Slovenia, and I'm full of positive impressions about how the country has managed its mountainous treasures into a travel product. It may seem obvious to many that this is how mountain tourism should be, but unfortunately, this is not the case in Greece. Despite having even more spectacular natural landscapes, our mountain tourism suffers due to poor infrastructure and will never reach that level, consequently failing to attract this type of tourism. Here’s what impressed us:

  • Bike trails: Along the road and by the riverside, making biking easy, safe, and enjoyable.

  • Lakes, waterfalls, and springs: Accessible to everyone, with infrastructure for parking, toilets, cafes, and completely protected. We didn't see a single piece of garbage in four days.

  • Trails: Signposted and maintained by alpine clubs, functional without scandalous stories and wasted money.

  • Accommodation and dining: Guesthouses, hotels, and restaurants for every budget, respecting continuity and tradition. Slovenia boasts Michelin star restaurants, but the guesthouses in the villages maintain their tradition without trying to imitate fine dining or bring in alien food to their culture.

  • People: Very happy and easy-going, finding happiness in simplicity and nature.

Conclusion: Gems may exist, but they cannot shine without the right environment. It's disheartening to think about how our country's mountain regions could shine, but unfortunately, this will never happen.

If you love mountains, Slovenia is a cozy, authentic, and beautiful destination where you can easily spend a week hiking, biking, enjoying food, and exploring beautiful towns. The best company to plan your flawless trip with amazing people is  https://slovenia-trips.com/
